The Autumn Edit — Volume 01

There’s something about Raleigh this time of year that just feels good. You can feel spring on the way and spring in Raleigh is just beautiful. Sure, there is pollen, but the perfect temps and longer days just make porch and patio sitting a feature of the day.

The evenings are a little longer. Restaurants feel fuller. Open houses feel busier. You can feel the city stretching into a new season.

It feels like momentum, but not the chaotic kind. The steady kind that breathes new life in.

So I thought I’d start something simple here. A little snapshot of what’s happening lately - in real estate, in life, and in the small things I’m loving.

In Real Estate

Things are picking up. (Finally!)

Homes that are priced well are moving quickly again, and we’ve stepped back into multiple-offer situations more than once lately. Not the wild frenzy we saw a few years ago - but competitive in a healthy way, which is a welcomed sight for sellers and agents alike. 🙃

Buyers are asking better questions. Sellers are thinking more strategically. It feels more grounded and honestly just more balanced and realistic.

Raleigh still feels steady to me. That’s always been one of the things I appreciate most about this market. It doesn’t swing dramatically. It grows, adjusts, recalibrates - and then keeps moving forward. Even in some of the more extreme markets that we have experienced within the last 15 or so years.

I like that kind of energy. Not only for myself, but for my team and for our clients. Buying or selling a home is stressful! Inserting chaos into that equation can just be a bit too much for everyone.

So if you are watching the market, no matter where you are, keep close watch! I feel a shift this year for the first time in 3 and I am excited to watch it play out. Check the recent Market Insight for Wake County.

In Life

This season feels full, but in a way that feels aligned. Work has picked up across all businesses that I am a part of, which I’m grateful for. But I have also been in a space of really diving into the mechanics of our operations to ensure things are flowing smoothly and effectively. I am a HUGE systems person, so this has been both fulfilling and time consuming, but a necessary thing for right now.

And as we step into our second decade in business with my real estate business, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I actually want the next ten years to look like. And for once, I want something a little different. Not just more, but better.

More focused. More thoughtful. More sustainable.

Camden is growing faster than I’m ready for, and lately I’ve felt more aware of how quickly everything moves. School events, practices, random weeknight dinners, the ordinary stuff that somehow becomes the most meaningful. Even dreaded homework time.

I’m trying to live more intentionally right now. Less blowing through the day without a purpose and to just survive and more looking around at the things I am so grateful for that surround me everyday.

If you are in a season that feels heavier than you would like, I would recommend trying some simple gratitude each day. It can even be one very small thing. Start there and build on it. It will give you something positive to focus on when things around you feel off or negative. Take it from someone who has been there and is working through the same habit. ❤️

Something I’m Loving Right Now

One goal of mine for this year was to get into the kitchen in a different way this year. I have always loved cooking - learning, trying things and seeing how things come out. But this year, I want to deepen my knowledge of cooking. I don’t want to constantly look up recipes or follow something step-by-step on my phone. I want more intuition. I want to understand flavors. I want to know what works together without overthinking it.

By nature, I second guess myself when it comes to things I am not yet perfect at. I know - that is awful to say out loud - but very truthful. I am hoping that this challenge will give me more connection to my intuition about things other than being a mom, running a team or business and so on. My hope is that it will allow me to tap into a different form of expression.

And I’ll share more of this as I go - including a few Amazon finds that have made it more fun and easier to experiment without feeling overwhelmed. A few simple tools have already changed how I move around the kitchen and you can find them on my Amazon page if you want to check them out.

More on this as I go. It will truly be an adventure to share!

Thanks for being here and see you soon!
